With combined objectives of architectural preservation and energy efficiency, the Boston Architectural College chooses the leading edge lighting retrofit solution from ThinkLite.

The Boston Architectural College, located in the heart of Boston’s historic Back Bay is surrounded by inspiring architecture, museums, performance venues, and colleges and universities. This is not only an environment that complements the study of design.It is an historically significant area where historical preservation is paramount. And so, when the college embarked on an energy efficient lighting project, retrofitting existing fixtures was a mandate.
“The College is on a mission to become carbon neutral, but we must balance that with preserving the history of the building.” said Art Byers, Assistant Vice President of Facilities for the College. Leanne Gordon of WorldEnergy Efficiency Services, the firm that oversaw the lighting retrofit said, “Knowing the requirements of the Boston
Architectural College, we were pleased to recommend the ThinkLite solution. ThinkLite’s LED replacements for fluorescent tubes were selected not only because we were able to use the existing fixtures, but because we also eliminated ballast and lamp maintenance and replacement for up to ten years.”
“Wattage consumption was immediately cut in half and we were able to provide an aesthetically pleasing quality of light,” said Gordon.
Byers remarked, “Being an architectural college, we are very particular about light intensity and overall color. We tested the lighting with students and faculty and determined ThinkLite’s lamps, delivering a 93+ color-rating index (CRI) provided a great solution.”
